Return to the BUILD
“The parts provided this time include the last of R2-D2’s three projectors, plus the lens for the second processor state indicator at the back of his head and two small details that go above it. You also have some more screws for securing his dome panels, plus three clips that will be used to secure the wiring inside his head.”
The Understanding Robotics section is missing again, which means there is going to be a lot to do. Two big issues in a row!

Adding Dome Details
Steps 1-2
Cut the Allen Screws from the sprue:
I recommend using sprue cutters or a sharp hobby knife here for nice clean cuts:
Steps 3-4
As in the previous issue, screw the Allen Screws into the six (6) locations shown below.
As I mentioned in Issue 64, I did not use the supplied plastic Allen Screws. Instead, I used these longer, stainless steel versions:
Steps 5-8
Find the Dome Frame with the smaller hole next to the projector and insert the Lens flush, aligning the notch to the tab, as shown:
Steps 9-12
Retrieve the Processor State Indicator (green/yellow) assembly from Issue 45 and secure it over the Lens with two (2) 2.3×6 mm black screws, as shown:
Steps 13-15
Fit the Projector Shell into the Projector Pivot so the notch on the shell is in the position shown below:
Steps 16-18
Fit the Projector Mount into the pivot so the small square tab at the top and the thick bottom tab line up, as shown:
Steps 19-20
Fit this assembly into the matching location of the Dome Frames, so the outer square tab fits into the upper notch, and secure it into place with two (2) 2.3×6 mm black screws:
This is what it should look like from the outside:
Steps 21-25
Apply a spot of super glue to the shanks of the Dome Details and firmly insert them into the small holes above the lens we just installed:
Fitting the Cable Clips
Steps 1-3
Fit one of the Cable Clips to this location, guiding its locating pin to the matching alignment hole, and secure the other end with one (1) 2.5×4 mm silver screw, as shown:
Steps 5-6
Position the next Cable Clip in this location and secure with one (1) 2.5×4 mm silver screw:
Steps 7-8
Position the final Cable Clip in this location and secure with one (1) 2.5×4 mm silver screw:
Thoughts
I love these big issues with a bunch to do! It only added a few more details to the dome, but it is coming along nicely. We will be adding some of the final electronics to the head interior in the next issue.

Issue 66 – Distribution Board, Mounting Plate, Allen Screws
Hi:
Do you have part numbers and vendors for the ss screws?
Thank you
Unfortunately, I have no idea where DeAgostini gets the screws from.
