This DeAgostini 1:2 scale Star Wars R2-D2 partwork model is one of the most detailed model of its kind. It is based on the famous franchise from the mind of George Lucas. For a model that costs north of $1600 USD you would think it would be perfect, but you would be wrong. There are definitely some shortcomings you will find as you build it and they may or may not drive you crazy.

Luckily, there are communities of fans who, like myself, are passionate about the movie and the genre.  Some of them will surely produce some amazing custom modifications (mods) you can add to your R2-D2 model to give it more accuracy and detail.

Some mods will be very affordable and others will be quite expensive. It is totally up to you which ones to install. Every build is going to be slightly different no matter what, so do what you want!

On that note, here is a list of the mods I have chosen for my build. Details on and where to get each mod can be found on their individual pages.

  1. I love what you do. It’s helpful and incredibly generous on your part. I’ve only just begun with my builds; DB5, Willys Jeep(cancelled by BK), and now R2D2. They quickly became passions. Your info on the DB5 and now R2D2 is great. For me, it adds to the enjoyment. Thank you!
I don’t know if you take donations, but I’d like to show my appreciation for your incredible assistance. Can I help? I wouldn’t be a lot, but I’m sure there are others that feel as I do.
Your site is professional, helpful, and open sourced to all things partworks/buildouts! Thanks again and please let me know. Tj Layden

    1. Thank you for the kind words! I love helping by sharing my builds and top/tricks with others. You don’t need to donate anything at all. If you do buy via any of my Amazon links, I do get a few cents here and there and use that to shrink my hosting costs. I am just happy these sites are useful to builders like yourself!
